UNDER CONSTRUCTION
BRASÍLIA-DF, 2024-2025
The project is located in an area adjacent to Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, next to one of the most important biomes in the world: the Cerrado. Therefore, as with other projects developed by BLOCO for the region, the intention to minimize the impact of the building on its surroundings guided the entire design of the project. We defined the construction process in two stages. The first will use a semi-industrialized metal structure, composed of welded and prefabricated “box” profiles, while the second will mainly use local craftsmanship.
The structure of metal beams and pillars is organized through a 3x3m modular “mesh” supported by central lines of pillars and a roof with perimeter overhangs. This mesh is occupied in a “porous” manner, alternating between solids (rooms and enclosed spaces) and voids (balconies, gardens, and circulation spaces). All circulation between rooms is via suspended walkways and covered balconies. All the masonry in the house is exposed brick, and the entire floor will be composed of prefabricated “wall panels.” This is a strategy to protect the interior from excessive moisture during the rainy season and increase the permeability of the soil under the construction, which is not very permeable.
