The renovation of this 68m2 apartment reorganized much of the floor plan to meet the needs of the resident. Originally very compartmentalized, the floor plan, typical of two-bedroom properties in Asa Norte, limited the size of the living areas. To solve this problem, most of the walls were demolished, exposing the original structure of beams, concrete pillars and pipes, enhancing the existing architecture.
The kitchen was repositioned, integrating it with the living room and one of the windows, where a small vegetable garden was installed. This new configuration allowed the old service bathroom to be transformed into a toilet, while the balcony and one of the two bedrooms were incorporated into the living room, maximizing the social area and increasing the entry of natural light. Only the master suite was kept in its original size.
The color palette uses white as a base to highlight the exposed concrete structure. Mustard yellow stands out in details, such as on the lower doors of the kitchen cabinet and on the inside of the living room cabinet.
The materiality of the project emphasizes wood, present in the flooring – made from recycled parquet flooring from a demolition site –, in the furniture and in the cabinetry in the living room. White 15×15 cm tiles, characteristic of early Brasília buildings, were used in the kitchen, bathrooms and on the sideboard in the living room. In this space, the covering also functions as a bench or table, connecting areas separated by the original concrete structure.
